Compliance Class: Reg E Error Resolutions
Dealing with “error” disputes under Regulation E can be challenging, frustrating, and a big hit to the bottom line for a financial institution. Yet, failure to comply with the consumer liability and error resolution rules of Regulation E can result in substantial fines, penalties, and enforcement actions. For this reason, it is important for financial institutions to make sure they are complying with the applicable provisions of Regulation E when dealing with errors.
Our Regulation E Error Resolutions class is designed for those who don't need a full Regulation E class (like our Regulation E Bootcamp), but want to focus only on their responsibilities for error resolutions and consumer liability as they relate to Regulation E. In other words, this program focuses only on the error resolution and consumer liability sections of Regulation E rather than all parts of the rule.
Our Regulation E Error Resolutions class helps attendees understand their responsibilities for consumer liability and error resolutions as they relate to Regulation E. To accomplish this, our program contains four parts. First, we provide a brief introduction and discuss a few key definitions. Next, we review the consumer liability provisions of Regulation E, including the $50, $500, and unlimited liability tiers while providing examples on how each tier works (which may not be the way you have thought). After that, we discuss the error resolution requirements of Regulation E including discussing when an investigation must start, the requirements for provisional credit, finalizing an investigation, and notifying customers. Finally, we conclude our program by reviewing a number of frequently asked questions (FAQs) as released by the CFPB, which help to provide clarity on a number of situations that may arise. (See below for the full curriculum of what is covered in our Regulation E Compliance Class.)
In addition to the four training videos included in this program, we also provide a downloadable training manual (PDF) that can be used as a reference tool long after attending the program.
Who should attend?
This program would be beneficial for compliance officers and compliance analysts, operations managers, risk managers, auditors, corporate trainers, deposit operations staff, and those responsible for handling “error” disputes in your organization.
